Sea You Soon, Andrea!
Did you know sharks are always swimming forward so that they don’t sink to the bottom of the water column? Our sister Andrea Dempsey is swimming forward in an internship abroad in Mossel Bay South Africa this month! Andrea’s a senior marine science/biology track major with a minor in professional writing. Throughout December, she’ll be working alongside Ocean’s Research, an organization that conducts research and gathers information on South Africa's marine life. Andrea will be studying Great White Shark conservation and tropic ecology of Pajama and Leopard Cat-sharks! How exciting?! She’ll be helping conduct an inter-tidal survey to assess the biodiversity of invertebrate communities. Fin-tastic! She’s looking forward to being exposed to different marine creatures, both big and small, that you wouldn't find here along the east coast. She says it's a whole different world to discover and research when you have access to a new marine community. We can't wait to hear all your JAWS-dropping stories. There are plenty of fish in the sea, but DPhiE sisters are the only ones for me! We wish you luck on your internship Andrea!
We'll leave you with a little joke here from chilly PA;
What do you get when you cross a shark and a snowman?
Frostbite!
